Sharks have been on the earth a little over 350 million years.

Sharks skeletons are made of cartilage ( Like the soft bone in your nose).

A sharks skin is smooth if you stroke it in one direction, but stroke it in
the opposite direction and you may get cut.

Most sharks give birth to live sharks which are called pups. Other sharks
lay eggs which are called Mermaid's Purse.

Sharks do not chew their food they swallow it whole.

The biggest shark (and fish) living is the Whale Shark. It can grow to be
50 feet (15 meters) long and weigh 15 tons.

The smallest living shark is the Tsuranagakobitozame (Dwarf Shark). It is
5 inches (12.5 centimeters) long.

The shark that seems the friendliest to man is the Whale Shark, who is so
gentle that divers often take rides on them.

Most shark attacks occur when a person is mistaken for prey.
